AVA’s COOKBOOK

Food is a universal language. It connects neighborhoods, communities, cities, countries, and the world. Cooking and baking shows love without words. Although a cookbook in itself is not a groundbreaking idea, it can have more impact within a group than we usually accredited it.

The cookbook I’ve put together has multiple recipes from past and present members of Grow: Johnson County and the Global Food Project. The recipes all include produce that is commonly grown at the Poor Farm. Some of the recipes are more common, and others more unique. The cookbook has a digital copy as well, right here. The link is also written in the back of the hard copy of the cookbook. Absolutely anyone can use it and share the recipes with others.

My goal for this cookbook is that it brings people together, specifically those working and volunteering at the Poor Farm in Johnson County.

The people working at Grow: Johnson County have been some of the kindest people I have had the opportunity to get to know. They made me and others incredibly welcome. They are all incredibly close together, and it has by far been my favorite part of working there. Truly I have the honor of contributing to it by making a cookbook with the recipes from their members, and members of the Global Food Project.
